Bergin who plays Danny Mitchell, will be written out of the show later this year after new producer Bryan Kirkwood took the decision to axe the character as part of the show’s ongoing revamp.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, Bergin revealed "I don’t think it would work if I walked straight into another soap - I’ve done six months in EastEnders and loved it, but I do like variety."
On life after the Square, he said "It would be fantastic to do a little bit of theatre and then maybe move on to film work. I’ll just have to see what comes my way."
